Memoir post 2
This book has given me a new perspective for how people live. Living in Boulder my whole life has taken away some of the reality in the real world that we live in. I could not imagine what it would be like to have my dad be one of the most prominent drug dealers in town. It was definately an eye opener. The memoir also taught me that work ethic is the most important key to success. Even though, Anthony Kiedis was a drug addict and used them recklessly, whenever he was rehearsing with his band or on stage at a concert he would always give a 110% into his job. Anthony Kiedis's relationship with his mom has taught me that a mothers love is invaluable. No matter what Anthony was doing she was always there to care for him. He states that his mothers home in Michigan was his greatest sanctuary.
Memoir post 1
- I chose Scar Tissue, by Anthony Kiedis mostly because I have heard great reviews and also I am a big fan of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. I am very satisfied with my choice. It gave me more information about the Chili Peppers and the development of their bands, but mostly showed how crazy and reckless Anthony Kiedis's life was.
- Scar tissue is about Anthony Kiedis's life growing up with a drug dealing dad and a hippie mom, and moves on to growing his band known today as the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
- “I've wanted to feel pleasure to the point of insanity. They call it getting high, because it's wanting to know that higher level, that godlike level. You want to touch the heavens, you want to feel glory and euphoria, but the trick is it takes work. You can't buy it, you can't get it on a street corner, you can't steal it or inject it or shove it up your ass, you have to earn it.” This quote shows how reckless Anthony Kiedis was and how he would do anything to find that next drug. His writing style was pretty straight forward. He would tell stories about his life and describe how he looks back on it now.
- The book made me realize how reckless some peoples lives are. Living my entire life in boulder has made me sort of secluded to the rest of the world and it was very interesting to read about someones life that is so different than mine.
